Job Summary
Summary
Responsible for the overall management and administration of the respiratory therapy department in the hospital. This role provides leadership and direction to a team of respiratory therapists, ensuring that all departmental policies and procedures are followed and that patients receive high-quality care.

Essential Functions
-Supervises and manages respiratory therapy staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
-Ensures that respiratory therapy equipment and supplies are maintained and updated as necessary.
-Develops and implements policies and procedures for respiratory therapy services, in compliance with regulatory requirements.
-Coordinates respiratory therapy services with other departments within the facility.
-Provides patient care as needed, and maintains up-to-date knowledge of respiratory therapy treatments and techniques.
-Participates in the development of the departmental budget, and manages expenditures to ensure that the department operates within its financial parameters.
-Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of patient care and treatment, and ensures that all documents are complete and compliant with regulatory requirements.
-Participates in hospital committees, task forces, and quality improvement initiatives, as appropriate.
Education
Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study required or Master's Degree Respiratory Therapy preferred or Master's Degree Related Field of Study preferred

Licenses and Credentials
Respiratory Therapist [Massachusetts] - Massachusetts Board of Respiratory Care required
Experience
Experience working as a respiratory therapist 8-10+ years required and Experience in a supervisory or management role 5-7 years required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology of the respiratory system.
- Knowledge of respiratory therapy techniques and equipment.
- Proficiency in performing basic respiratory care interventions such as oxygen therapy and airway management.
- Ability to perform patient assessments and monitor patient progress.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot equipment and patient issues.
- Ability to adapt in changing situations and respond appropriately in emergency situations.
