Job Description
What You Get to Do:
The Employment Specialist will provide job development, job placement, and on the job support to individuals who receive employment and vocational services through Dungarvin's Supported Employment Program in the Eugene/Springfield area. A key responsibility is to assist individuals with disabilities in developing the necessary work skills to help them find and maintain employment within the community independently.
- Identify the professional strengths, abilities, goals, and support needs of individuals receiving services
- Teach job search skills and techniques including resume development, submitting applications, and preparing for interviews.
- Develop and implement strategies to support individuals in excelling in job-related tasks.
- Support individuals under employment services contracts with providers such as Vocational Rehabilitation (VR), Oregon Department of Disability Services (ODDS) or Oregon Commission for the Blind (OCB).
- Establish relationships and maintain contact with employers to identify job opportunities.
- Negotiate job tasks and roles with employers on behalf of job seekers.
- Submit all required documentation and reports in a timely manner, as assigned.
Qualifications
What Makes You a Great Fit:
- Six (6) months or more of prior experience working in supported employment is required
- This role involves driving as a fundamental responsibility; a valid driver's license and reliable vehicle is required. The Employment Specialist may need to transport individuals served.
- Previous experience supporting individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (I/DD)
- A bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Special Education, or related field is preferred but not required
