Job Description
The Director, Government Affairs &PublicPolicy is a senior individual contributor responsible for leading the company’s engagement with U.S.policymakers and regulators,and,as needed, state and international policymakers and regulators,on issues affectingthe Company and Bitcoin anddigital assets. This role will develop and execute the company’s government affairs andpublicpolicy strategy.
Reporting to the EVP, General Counsel and based in Tysons Corner, VA, the Director will build and manage relationships with key regulators (such as theSEC, CFTC, Treasury, and IRS), members of Congress and their staff, andother key stakeholders. The Director will manage external lobbyists, lobbying firms, and consultants.
Build and oversee the Company’s government affairs and public policy strategy in conjunction with theexecutive, legal, and finance teams, and Board of Directors as applicable.Develop and refine the company’s public policy positions on digital assets, capital markets, tax,and related financial/regulatory topics.
Develop, andmaintainstrong relationships with SEC and CFTC commissioners, senior staff, and advisors;Department of the Treasury and IRS officials and staff; and other relevant federal, state, and international regulators.
Monitor, analyze, and help shape regulatory initiatives, rulemakings, and guidanceimpactingdigital assets, capital markets, tax,andfinancial services.
Build andmaintainrelationships with key Senators, Representatives, and congressional staff; and local, state, and international officials andlegislators.
Serve asthe Company’sprimarypointof contact forrelevantcommittees, including the Senate Finance Committee;Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee;Senate Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry Committee;HouseFinancial Services Committee;and House Agriculture Committee.
Track and analyze proposed legislation and hearingsimpactingdigital assets, capital markets, tax,andfinancial services; provide concise briefings and recommendations to internal stakeholders.
Propose, draft, and advocate for legislation, regulatory guidance, and policy frameworks that support theCompany’sobjectives.
Prepare policy briefs, talking points, testimony, and related materials for internal leadership and external stakeholders.
Identify, engage, and manage external lobbyists, lobbying firms, and policy consultants; oversee scope, performance, and budgets.
Bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science, law, economics, business, ora relatedfield.
7+ years of experience in government affairs, public policy, regulatory affairs, or a closely related function, preferably within financial services, capital markets, fintech, or digital assets.
Demonstrated experience working with or within federal agencies and/or Congress (e.g., SEC, CFTC, Treasury, IRS, or relevant committees).
Strong understanding of U.S. legislative and regulatory processes, particularly in securities, commodities, tax, and financial regulation.
Experience drafting, analyzing, andadvocating forlegislation, regulatory proposals, or formal policy positions.
Direct experience with digital assets, cryptocurrencies, blockchain, or related market structure and regulation.
